| Armor rules |
| Armor and combat pool (sr3.285):
Wearing armor can be burdensome and tiring, and it tends to slow down characters
in combat. To reflect this, for every 2 points of Ballistig or Impact Armor
higher than a character's Quickness Attribute, reduce his or her Combat
Pool by one die. |
| Armor layers (freely from sr3.285):
When wearing more than one layer of armor, add the rating of the higest-rated
piece to one-half (round down) the rating of the next highest rated piece
of clothing or armor to determine the effective armor rating. Layering armor
also restricts a character's movement: Add together the Ballistic Armor
Ratings of the armor pieces. Each point
exceeding the character's Quickness Attribute acts as a target number modifier
to all Quickness-related and -linked tests. Also reduce the character's
Quickness by the modifier to calculate the movement rate (see sr3.108).
Generally, only a jacket or coat can be layered over clothing-style armor.
When a helmet or shield is used, the armor bonus it provides is added to
other armor. This does not count as layering, but does count toward determining
the Quickness penalty. |
| Form-Fitting Body Armor (cc.51): Using advanced
synthetic materials that breathe and stretch with the body, form-fitting
body armor is custom-tailored to the body of each individual. Each set is
unique, contoured for a specific body shape so that there are no gaps or
folds. This armor comes in three versions: shirt, half-body suit and full-body
suit. The shirt offers protection only for the chest and back. The half-body
suit covers the torso, groin and thights. The full-body suit covers the
entire body, including the extremeties, and come with gloves, slippers and
a hood. FFBA can be worn with other armor but does not affect a character
when calculating penalties for Combat Pool loss (sr3.285). |

Vashon Island Actioneer armor line: When the
successful tweed-based retro-Houndstooth and Hunt Ball lines died out in
the late 2050s, Vashon Island released the groundbreaking Actioneer line,
appealing to the on-the-go-powerbrokers of the modern corporate world. With
high collars and necklines, no lapels and hidden fasteners instead of buttons,
these business outfits hate a flat, smooth and sharo no-frills style. Most
Actioneer outfits also incorporate tasteful and stylized coporate logos
into the tecture and coloring.
As with previous lines, integrated Kevlar fibers and custom-shaped carbon-ceramic
plates provide adequate protection. The Actioneer long-coat designs are
specially tailored for bodyguards and feature built-in concealed holsters
and ammo clip pockets. The long coat adds 50 percent to the Concealability
of any item worn underneath and does not count as separate item for layering
armor. |

| Vashon Island Industrious armor line: This line
of industrial strength coveralls is intended for workers who need protection
from accidents, paranormal animals or urban predators. Favored by cargo
loaders, truckers, field mechanics and construction workers, these jumpsuits
and coveralls provide armor and enough pockets, loops and straps to easily
carry a kit's worth of tools. The hardy fabric is also resistant to liquids
and anti-flammable; reduce by 2 the Power of any fire or contact-vectored
chemical attacks. A winterwear accessory line also provides thermal protection
for outdoor work in the winter; reduce by 2 the power of any cold-based
attacks for winterwear outfits. Industrious coveralls are also favored by
shadowrunners who masquerade as repair teams or laborers. |
